Faulty AMD timer chip in Tomahawk fails to top Saddam
3113 strikes again
THE US FLUNG 36 Cruise missiles in Saddam Hussein's direction earlier this morning but a few hours later the old psychotic was on the TV, so that $36 million went right down the swannee.
Presumably the US folk with their fingers on the button thought that if they topped Saddam Hussein quick, they might avoid all the unpleasantness which is still to come.
But the INQUIRER reckons that Cruise Tomahawk missiles are not all they're cracked up to be. They sometimes go a bit awry and we were told by an AMD employee just around the time of Gulf War I there's a reason for that.
It's because the AMD 3113 timer chip in the guidance system of the Cruise missiles has a bug, sorry defect, which sometimes causes the Tomahawks to turn right at the traffic lights or whatever instead of left.
Maybe by now AMD has upgraded the 3113 timer chip. Or maybe not. µ
