On www.tank-net.org people interested in military history startet a project: to get a complete Order of Battle of NATO at the time of the end of the cold war, this is around 1989/1990. A parallel project for the former Warsaw Pact was started too. The results till now are very detailed, especially for NATO, and give an impressive scenario of the military situation in Europe at a decisive historical moment. The project later was expanded to the neutral and block-free countries like Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Finland or Yugoslavia. Well, Yugoslavia now is the only country with still very incomplete results. The Order of Battle listed in my posting is the best ever published but still is incorrect in many aspects, as I know. I'm now trying to get corrections of my data and additional information about JNA at a time the yugoslav armed forces would have had to face an aggression by NATO or Warsaw Pact - and not fight in their own country.
I think a lot of this information i realy hard to find because only a small group of officers knew it. For example the Zeljave airport near the Bosnian town of Bihac where tha JNA had an airplane under a mountain like one from the james bond movies was covered with mystics for ordinary people.

They told us (our politicians) that the JNA was the 4. army in Europe. What do you think? Could this be true?
