Govori se o više od milijardu korisnika, odnosno bolje rečeno računala diljem svijeta, koja bi trebala "u samo nekoliko klikova" odraditi nadogradnju s neke od ranije verzija Windowsa na Windows 10. Posebno intenzivno se u Microsoftu pripremaju za kinesko tržište, jer je objavljeno kako su potpisali partnerske ugovore s kompanijama Lenovo, Tencent i Qihu 360, što će ubrzati i olakšati penetraciju Windowsa 10, jer se radi uglavnom o besplatnim nadogradnjama upravo kroz partnerske programe s navedenim tehnološkim divovima. Najavljuje se i dodatno širenje spomenutih partnerskih ugovora, jer su navodno u igri Intel, Qualcomm, pa čak i Raspberry Pi Foundation.

Windows 10's Internet Explorer Replacement, Project Spartan, Now Available to Test

Project Spartan, which will be the default Web browser for Windows 10, is available now through the latest Windows 10 Technical Preview for Windows Insider members. You can join this program here.

The new browser is available in the Windows 10 preview program through the "globe" icon on the taskbar. Features available right now include Cortana integration, a "reading view" option, and Web Note, which lets you scribble notes directly on the screen.

Of course, the Project Spartan build available now in the Windows 10 preview program is not finished. Additional features will be added later in advance of Windows 10's full launch this summer.

Most PC gamers are excited about DX12, the next Generation API from Microsoft, with many rumours indicating that Radeon and Nvidia Multi-GPU Asynchronous configs may be possible.

DirectX 12 is expected to release alongside Windows 10 later this year, finally giving developers "closer to the hardware" access like AMD's Mantle API. Alongside reduced CPU overhead and other improvements to framerates and latency, DX12 may make a big change to how Multi-GPU configurations work.

One change that will be in DirectX12 will be the ability to use multiply/different graphics hardware or resources as a single pool, in which developers can distribute the workload as they please. This will allow different hardware to do different tasks and opens up the potential for GPUs of varying manufacturer to be used at the same time.

One potential new feature of DX12 that will help Multi-GPU configs is that frame buffers, the GPUs VRAM, will not necessarily need to be mirrored, which means that 2 4GB GPUs could act like a 8GB GPU in games. Right now when using Crossfire or SLI the frame buffers of the GPUs must be mirrored. With DX12, provided the developers add/ program the feature, adding more GPUs to your setup could add to your total frame buffer.

3 Surprises From Microsoft Windows 10

The new OS is meant to be both an improvement from and an apology for the less-than-well-liked Windows 8. The company has already made it clear that the hated "Metro" interface (the screen that looks like a tablet's icon-laden interface) will no longer be the default launch screen. The company has also made it clear that the apparently much-loved Start menu will be back with enhanced functionality.

The new OS holds many surprises. Here are a few learned from the company, media reports, and using the operating system as an Insider.

- Spartan is the only new browser

- Biometric authentications is coming - The new OS will offer Windows Hello, a system which allows instant access to devices through biometric authentication, the company announced on the Windows blog. Instead of having to remember and type in a password users, will be able to use their "face, iris or fingerprint" to unlock their devices -- "with technology that is significantly safer than traditional passwords," Windows boss Terry Myerson wrote.
Not all Windows 10-equipped machines will ship with this technology at launch. It will however be backwards compatible with any device which already has a fingerprint reader.

While Microsoft used the Windows Blue codename for Windows 8.1 and Threshold for Windows 10, the software giant is planning to use Redstone for its 2016 plans. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans tell The Verge that the company is planning two updates to the core of Windows in 2016, one in the summer and one in fall. These updates will largely be designed for new hardware and devices that run Windows, and will be targeted at the Xbox, Surface Hub, phones, HoloLens, Microsoft Band, Office, and other products that rely on the core of Windows. Redstone is the codename for the updates and a reference to Minecraft, the game Microsoft acquired last year. The Redstone name was first revealed by Neowin.

The Windows Redstone updates won’t be seen as a Windows 11 or Windows 12, but more of a Windows 10.1, with new features added to the core for all difference device types to take advantage of. Microsoft is currently planning to detail more of its HoloLens and Windows 10 development plans at Build later this month, and it’s possible the company may discuss Windows as a service and Redstone. We understand the Redstone name was first used around two months ago inside Microsoft, so it may still be a little early for the company to share its plans.

Let’s cut to the chase. What Windows 10 Build 10061 does so well is bring everything together. It brings Start, Taskbar and Action Center improvements, polishes Continuum and Task View, gives the Virtual Desktops some much needed love and there are new Mail and Calendar apps. It’s tight, smart and nicely knits new with old.

Before going into this in more depth, let’s break down the changes in a little more detail:

Start Menu, Taskbar, and Action Center – the Start Menu is at last resizeable again while both it and the Taskbar now have transparency and ‘AutoColor’ to automatically tie their appearance to the main colour of your desktop wallpaper. They also have some smart UI tweaks like moving the power option to the button left corner which reduces pointer scrolling when switching off or restarting.

Continuum – is now a whole lot more tablet friendly with automatic resizing of the Start, Cortana and Task View buttons as well as the Notification area. There’s a boot directly into ‘Tablet Mode’ as well which is now default for sub 10-inch tablets.

Nixon was explaining how Microsoft was launching Windows 8.1 last year, but in the background it was developing Windows 10. Now, Microsoft employees can talk freely about future updates to Windows 10 because there's no secret update in the works coming next. It's all just Windows 10. While it immediately sounds like Microsoft is killing off Windows and not doing future versions, the reality is a little more complex. The future is "Windows as a service."

Microsoft has been discussing the idea of Windows as a service, but the company hasn't really explained exactly how that will play out with future versions of Windows. That might be because there won't really be any future major versions of Windows in the foreseeable future. Microsoft has altered the way it engineers and delivers Windows, and the initial result is Windows 10. Instead of big releases, there will be regular improvements and updates. Part of this is achieved by splitting up operating system components like the Start Menu and built-in apps to be separate parts that can be updated independently to the entire Windows core operating system. It's a big undertaking, but it's something Microsoft has been actively working on for Windows 10 to ensure it spans across multiple device types.
