Južna Koreja:

I dalje se nastavlja pumpanje kolor revolucije u Južnoj Koreji.

Growing South Korean protests demand President Park's resignation

By Madison Park, CNN
Updated 0608 GMT (1408 HKT) November 27, 2016
Organizers of Saturday's protest had called for 2 million people to hit the streets -- no small feat for a country of 50 million. Protesters clutched umbrellas, signs and candles near the Blue House, the presidential residence, in Seoul. Organizers also had called for rallies in other cities, too.
There were small gatherings of support for Park, but they were a fraction of the demonstration against her.
The political saga has consumed South Korea, a key US ally, with mounting concerns that the scandal will prevent the government from making major decisions.
...
There has been growing frustration with her, including over the country's stagnating economy and the Sewol ferry sinking, which killed more than 300 people. Many South Koreans were outraged at the systemic lapses that contributed to the sinking.

When South Korean President Park Geun-Hye's spokesman said 364 Viagra pills bought by her office were for "altitude sickness," some online users reacted with disbelief.

"Now I get why older Koreans are so psyched to go mountain hiking every weekend," Yonsei University Professor John Delury tweeted on Wednesday.
But what if the South Korean President's office was onto something?
High-altitude mountaineers and a biochemistry expert told CNN Viagra was sometimes used by climbers to avoid altitude sickness, although its usefulness has yet to be clinically proven.

...
The Viagra pills story came to light on Wednesday after a local Korean newspaper, Munhwa Ilbo, released a list of medicine purchased by the president's office between January 2014 and September 2016.
It was requested by opposition party member Kim Sang-hee. Among the items were 364 Viagra pills, 150 placenta parental injections and medicine for chronic fatigue.
364 viagra tablete i 150 injekcija za uljepšavanje. VAU.

South Korea’s THAAD crisis
9 September 2016
Author: Hyung-A Kim, ANU

South Korean President Park Geun-hye’s unilateral decision to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) missile defence system has sparked serious backlash and protests at home. Many South Korean voters argue that the THAAD’s powerful radar system would make the country a key military target. And the South Korean defence ministry, in vowing to minimise any impact from THAAD on citizens and the environment, has validated these concerns.
....
As THAAD forms the core element of the United States’ multilayered defence program in the region, and is also geared toward defending US troops there, President Park’s decision has sparked regional controversy. China and Russia as well as North Korea have objected, and some commentators are envisaging the beginning of a ‘new Cold War’.

China, to begin with, is fuming. Since the official statement on 7 July to deploy THAAD, China has strongly objected to the decision, requesting that the South Korean government cancel the plan. China has also restricted the import of a wide variety of audio-visual K-pop music from South Korea. As China is South Korea’s largest trading partner, purchasing 26 per cent of all South Korean exports in 2015, such retaliation is a huge concern for the South Korean economy.

A bad bet on Egypt’s strongman

By Editorial Board November 24

EVER SINCE Egypt’s Abdel Fatah al-Sissi led a military coup against a democratically elected Islamist government three years ago, his apologists in the West, led by Secretary of State John F. Kerry, have hoped that he would launch economic reforms to revive the economy. The thinking is that more free-market policies, new flows of foreign investment and, eventually, growing prosperity would help stabilize Egypt after years of turmoil. In the meantime, Mr. Sissi’s brutal repression of domestic dissent could be overlooked

For three years the former general ignored the entreaties of Mr. Kerry and other Western counselors. He squandered tens of billions of dollars provided by Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf allies on wasteful mega-projects, such as a new channel for the Suez Canal, and on propping up Egypt’s currency. Meanwhile, he conducted the most sweeping and violent campaign against dissent in the country’s modern history, jailing not just Islamists but secular liberals, journalists and civil society activists, including American Aya Hijazi.

Now Mr. Sissi has finally embraced liberal reforms recommended by the International Monetary Fund. He had little choice: Saudi Arabia cut off its largesse, and as shortages of foreign currency spread through the economy, staples such as sugar and cooking oil started to disappear from shops. This month the government finally floated the currency — precipitating a devaluation of more than 50 percent — and reduced gasoline subsidies. The IMF responded by approving a $12 billion, three-year loan program.
...itd itd.
Sve pršti od zabrinutosti za egipatsku ekonomiju i za Sisijevo "traćenje" saudijske love za "megalomanske projekte" poput proširenja Sueza.

Da to nema više veze sa ovom viješću:

RUSSIA SELLING KA-52 ALLIGATOR HELICOPTERS TO EGYPT

Egypt will receive the first batch of the Ka-52 Alligator combat helicopters already in 2017

In 2017, the first batch of the Russian Ka-52 Alligator combat helicopters will be ready to be shipped to Egypt, the RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing Deputy CEO of the Russian Helicopters company, Igor Chechikov.

A contract for supply of 50 Russian attack helicopters was signed in December 2015. Egypt has become the first foreign customer, to whom Russia will supply the Ka-52 attack helicopters.
