Video interview: Francois Truffaut and Bernard Revon





Once again, we plumb the mysteries of the Internet to uncover this interview with prolific French writer-director Francois Truffaut. One of the founders of the French "New Wave" movement, along with Jean-Luc Godard, and Eric Rohmer, Truffaut's most notable movies are The 400 Blows (1959), Jules and Jim (1962), Farenheit 451 (1966), The Story of Adele H (1975), and the movie we featured in today's Daily Dialogue Day for Night (1972). However, many Americans may remember Truffaut best for his acting performance as Claude Lacombe in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Steven Spielberg personally asked Truffaut to play the role because of his admiration of the French filmmaker.

The interview below is a rare and wonderful glimpse into Truffaut's story-crafting process, shared here by screenwriter Bernard Revon.

In this 2+ minute excerpt, we see Wilder at his Malibu retreat, Wilder at his office with I.A.L. The Pervert's Guide to Cinema (2006) - drag mi je taj Žižek, njegova filozofija i vise nego ekscentricni pogledi na seks, . ovaj film se sastoji od 3 pedesetominutne epizode koje su obavezno (!) stivo za svakog filmofila. osim pomalo smijesnog engleskog naglaska Žižek nam daje jedan posve drugaciji pogled na film. kroz filozofiju i psihoanalizu (Freuda, Lacana) dotaknuo se mnogih filmskih scena. izmedju ostalog tu su filmovi Hitchcocka, Langa, Lyncha, Chaplina, Triera, Kieslowskog i mnogih drugih. kompletan popis filmova imate ovdje. zanimljivo je da se Žižek potrudio i posjetiti mnoga mjesta na kojima su neke od scena snimane. tako je bio u camcu na Bodega Bayu (The Birds), u podrumu Bates Motela (Psycho), na nekoliko lokacija iz Vertiga (drvo, most, hotel) itd. mene je osobno natjerao da uskoro pogledam Solaris, The Testament of Dr. Mabuse, The Great Dictator, The Red Shoes, The Piano Teacher i Dogville. ocjena 8,5/10.

He coined the phrase, "Go ahead, make my day." That alone earns screenwriter John Milius a place in the Hollywood Dialogue Hall of Fame -- if there was such an institution. Milius' film career stretches back to the mid-60's and his writing credits include Dirty Harry (1971), Jeremiah Johnson (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979), and Clear and Present Danger (1994).
