The Controversy
The Piri Reis map shows the western coast of Africa, the eastern coast of South America, and the northern coast of Antarctica. The northern coastline of Antarctica is perfectly detailed. The most puzzling however is not so much how Piri Reis managed to draw such an accurate map of the Antarctic region 300 years before it was discovered, but that the map shows the coastline under the ice as is today.

The period it took to build the great pyramid is listed in the texts and backed up by dating as 22 years. Logisticly speaking, that means that you would have to CUT, TRANSPORT and PLACE ONE stone EVERY NINE SECONDS. You mean to tell me that people of that time period did that by hand with no technological help? Placing many stones at once isn't really an option considering how perfectly they fit together (each would be cut to fit specificly in its place) and the scaffolding work that would exist preventing the placement of the other stones. There are modern engineers who say they couldn't do it in 22 years.

There are some 250 of these ahu platforms spaced approximately one half mile apart and creating an almost unbroken line around the perimeter of the island. Another 600 moai statues, in various stages of completion, are scattered around the island, either in quarries or along ancient roads between the quarries and the coastal areas where the statues were most often erected. Nearly all the moai are carved from the tough stone of the Rano Raraku volcano. The average statue is 14 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 14 tons. Some moai were as large as 33 feet and weighed more than 80 tons (one statue only partially quarried from the bedrock was 65 feet long and would have weighed an estimated 270 tons).

Near the courtyard is the Semi-Subterranean Temple; a square sunken courtyard that¹s unique for its north-south rather than east-west axis. In addition, the style, size and skill demonstrated by the vast number of precision-cut cyclopean stones at Tiahuanaco (and nearby Puma-punka) reminds us that cutting and moving 100+ ton stones was common-place for the highly skilled builders of the complex, who also managed to move the stones over tens of miles from distant quarries to Tiahuanaco, which at such a high altitude is in itself, a remarkable physical feat.

Not only were these stones really hard to cut, but they are also extremely heavy. One of these stone ruins weighs in at about 800 tons! These are big stones, and they are really heavy. The nearest quarry is at least 10 miles away from the site of the ruins. How in the world did these people move these blocks that weighed many tons, and how were they able to form a structure with them?

With the technology that we currently have today, it would be extremely difficult to recreate the site of these ruins, if possible at all. If we can't do it, then how did these ancient people accomplish this task? This could have taken place anywhere from 500 b.c. all the way back to the Ice Age.
