Nominalni maksimalni potisak ionako sam po sebi nema previse veze s najvecim brzinama, bilo sa ili bez dodatnog sagorijevanja. Ima pregrst primjera iz proslosti gdje su avioni slicnih dimenzija (ne nuzno i slicnog otpora) postizali povece brzine - mach 1.8, mach 2 itd s motorima puno manje nominalne snage - ukupno 80ak kN. Tu stvari ovise o tome kakav turbofan ili turbojet motor se koristi, odnosno koliki ce biti stvarni potisak pri odredjenim uvjetima, ili kolika ce sila otpora biti...

Inace, za EF-2000 sad navode max brzinu od M2.35, za razliku od M2.0 od prije .

Ma nije to sad odjednom, da su nešto napravili i da se avion ubrzao. Oduvijek je vjerojatno mogao ići tim brzinama samo to nisu željeli reklamirati. Očito se sada dogodila nekakva vježba il nešto gdje je 'nova' brzina pobjegla u javnost pa sad moraju to priznati.

Slična stvar je bila i s Raptorom. Službeno je ko fol supercruise bio 1.5 macha a najveća brzina 1.8 macha, da bi se kasnije pokazalo da to znači 'najmanje tolika brzina', a izvješća s kasnijih vježbi pokazala su da su prave brzine bliže 1.7 macha za supercruise i 2.4 macha maksimalne.

Općenito, zapadne vojske i proizvođači zapadne vojne opreme vole skrivati točne brojke. Često za domete raznih projektila napišu npr 70+ km, dok je pravi domet možda i 100 km, i slučno...

Sjećam se prvih informacija o AMRAAM-u, koji kaže maksimalni domet 15 milja. Yeah, right.

Istina, jedan od primjera koji mi je pao na pamet kad je Tydall zalijepio sliku Lightninga na onoj temi o gadnim avionima...

I mnogi drugi avioni su redovito probijali "sluzbene" rekorde... Tako je U-2 bio presretan i od strane F-104 Starfightera... Neki su doduse i bili sporiji od sluzbenih podataka. Tako npr. F-15 gotovo nikad nije vidio brzine vece od M2, barem ne u sluzbi, iako su se Ameri hvalili sa max brzinom od oko M2.5

Inace, meni je Lightning bezvremenski klasik. Jedini supersonicni britanski lovac koji je uveden u upotrebu. Ima ih nekoliko koji su u privatnom vlasnistvu sada i mislim da jos drze neke rekorde u time to climb kategoriji. Sad zamisli da si imas Lightninga za provozat se na 80ak tisuca stopa

Mada u praksi malo koje zrakoplovstvo može priuštiti i lovca i presretača, pa presretač nerijetko obavlja zadatke lovca i obratno.

Mozete vi navoditi Tornada, ali ja sam mislio na potpuno britanski proizvod, a ne avion nastao u kooperaciji s nekim. Onda bi i Typhoon mogao upast u tu kategoriju, ali ga ocito nisam naveo. Uostalom, takvog su misljenja i "chaps" iz RAF-a. I oni ga navode kao jedinog istinskog britanskog supersonicnog aviona koji je usao u sluzbu.

Tornado kao Panavia MRCA projekt jest nastao u kooperaciji, i Tornado jurišnici to jesu. Tornado ADV, međutim, s npr. Nijemcima, pa i Talijanima, koji su ga kasnije jedno kratko vrijeme leasali, nema baš puno veze - to je britanski proizvod za britanske potrebe. Druga je stvar što se Britanci ponose Lightningom jer je «genetski čist» i podsjetnik na staru slavu. Više zato što ne vole Nijemce nego zato što ADV ne bi bio britanski proizvod.

A new version of the Danish Army Command and Control Information System (DACCIS) - based on the generic Odin C2IS package originally developed by Maersk Data Defence (now Saab Danmark AS) - has been signed off by Saab. This latest version (V6.6) provides a new architecture, Saab spokesman Hans Christian Anderson told Jane's , and will be ready for deployment in early 2008

Indian and UK special forces join for Kashmir exercises
Indian special forces and UK Royal Marines Commandos joined for 25 days of joint exercises in northern Kashmir's mountainous Ladakh region on 17 September. In the 'Himalayan Warrior' manoeuvres, which end on 11 October, some 100 personnel from each country conducted mock strikes on well-entrenched 'enemy' hide-outs in precipitous terrain and hit-and-run raids by small groups at altitudes above 5,000 m

US AMCOM orders GBU-44/B Viper Strike munitions
The US Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) ordered a new stock of GBU-44/B Viper Strike munitions and engineering services in late September, in the immediate aftermath of the system's first use from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Central Command (CENTCOM) reported its first successful deployment of Viper Strike against enemy combatants - itself the US Army's first direct use of armed UAVs, all prior attacks being from air forces assets - it stated were attempting to plant a roadside bomb in Iraq on 1 September

Japan sees potential in US Airborne Laser
US industry officials have claimed significant Japanese interest in the US Airborne Laser (ABL) programme, a boost-phase missile defence system being developed for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In a 25 September briefing, Greg Hyslop, vice president and programme director of Boeing Missile Defense Systems' ABL programme, said that the Japanese government was "very interested" in ABL, which would use a Northrop Grumman-built high-energy laser to shoot down ballistic missiles in their first phase of flight

France redeploys Mirages to Afghanistan
The French Air Force has redeployed the first of six Dassault Mirage 2000D and Mirage F1 strike aircraft to Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan as part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), it was announced on 28 September. Until the redeployment, the French Expeditionary Air Group's EC 2/3 Champagne Squadron has been conducting its operations as part of Operation 'Serpentaire', in support of ISAF from its base at Dushanbe Airport in neighbouring Tajikistan

USN receives first Growler
The US Navy (USN) has taken delivery of its first production Boeing EA-18G Growler electronic attack (EA) and suppression of enemy air defences (SEAD) aircraft at a ceremony at the company's final assembly plant in St Louis on 24 September. Unlike the two aircraft already being flight-tested, the Growler handed over to the USN, dubbed 'G-1' by Boeing, is the first EA-18G to be entirely assembled and tested on the same production line as the existing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Based on the Super Hornet airframe, the Growler allows the USN to utilise the existing capabilities, reliability and maintainability of the Super Hornet while providing an advanced EA and SEADS platform at a fraction of the cost and time of producing a completely new aircraft

USN ship plan 'at some risk', warns NAVSEA chief
While the US Navy (USN) is set to receive at least USD13.2 billion for shipbuilding in the 2008 US defence budget, a confluence of approaching budget and post-Iraq pressures leaves its 313-ship plan "at some risk", according to USN Vice Admiral Paul Sullivan. The USD13.2 billion is the Senate's budget, which is USD2 billion less than the US House of Representatives' USD15.3 billion allotted for shipbuilding in 2008

USN shifts DDG-1000 lead ship to Bath Iron Works
The US Navy (USN) told Jane's on 25 September that the first DDG-1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer will be produced by General Dynamics' Bath Iron Works (BIW) Maine shipyard instead of Northrop Grumman Ship Systems' (NGSS') Ingalls shipyard. The new destroyers are being procured under a dual-lead-ship strategy wherein NGSS and BIW will both produce a lead ship at an expected cost of USD3.3 billion apiece

Dispute looms over Greek submarine acquisition
Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) and the Greek Defence Armaments and Investments Agency (GDAEE) are locked in dispute over the first Type 214 submarine built for the Hellenic Navy. The submarine's commander for a period of sea trials, Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft's (HDW's) head of naval ship operation and training, Stefan von Weydenberg, reported on the experiences of the HDW Sea Acceptance Trials (SAT) crew during the recent SubCon2007 conference at Kiel

Argentina begins submarine mid-life upgrade
The Argentine Navy's Santa Cruz-class (TR 1700) diesel-electric submarine ARA San Juan is now in the south dock of the Ministro de Marina Manuel Domecq Garcia shipyard undergoing a mid-life upgrade (MLU) and refit. While in dock, the San Juan will be raised out of the water to allow the hull to be opened and the batteries replaced, restoring its original operational performance, which had degraded with age

Bome, to bi bilo sjajno. Onda bi možda iste brodove moglo graditi i za HRM, a to bi onda vjerojatno pojeftinilo sve, kad se gradi veća serija.

Možda ne spada ovdje, ali jučer je preminuo David Lee "Tex" Hill. Ako vam ime ništa ne znači, Tex Hill je jedan od zadnjih preživjelih veterana Chennaultove American Volunteer Group, koja se borila u Kini protiv Japanaca.
