The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022-)

Uz vec neke postojece serije slicne tematike LOTR-u, i neke, odnosno jedne nove najavljene serije (Witcher), na pomolu nam je priprema serije o dogadjajima Aragornova zivota u mladjim danima.

Amazon je otkupio prava na seriju od 250 milijuna dolara, i seriji je planirano minimalno 5 sezona. Serija ce imati budjet od cak 1 milijarde dolara.

U igri su bile tri tv mreze (Amazon, HBO i Netflix), ali na koncu je cast za ekranizaciju najpopularnije fantasy price iz Middle-Eartha pripala Amazonu.

Zasada se jos ne zna ko ce biti u ulozi mladog Aragorna. Kako Viggo Mortensen iz ocitih razloga u godinama nije kandidat za tu ulogu (iako bi razveselilo sve fanove ga opet vidjeti kao Aragorna), Amazon ce morat priredit audiciju za tu ulogu.

Amazon jos nije u fazi castinga, ali Ian McKellen je izrazio zelju da bi se volio vratiti u ulogu Gandalfa, tako da bi fanovi mogli i njega ocekivati u seriji.
S obzirom da je ova serija prequel na LOTR trilogiju, Ian bi u tom slucaju glumio Gandalf The Grey-a.

Ako je suditi po rijecima vecem broju portala, nova Amazonova serija je dobila zeleno svijetlo za 1. sezonu koja bi mogla stici vec 2019. na male ekrane:

After much speculation it appears as though the subject base for Season 1 of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel series has been confirmed.

Amazon je u potrazi za scenaristima, redateljima i producentima za seriju. Zasad jos nema informacija hoce li i Peter Jackson biti ukljucen u projekt, ali po nedavnim navodima Jackson ima zelju se vratiti u Middle-Earth ili krenuti u vode snimanja DC filmova. Takodjer, Jackson je na Amazonovoj listi izbora stoga mozemo ocekivati i njegov odgovor uskoro.

To za 5 sezona je vrlo vjerovatno samo zelja Amazona, da serija cim dulje potraje, ili bar da ne bude ponistena nakon par ili cak jedne sezone.

Ocekivanja ce bit jako velika za ovo. Amazon (i produkcijska ekipa) ce se morat jako potrudit da ne razocaraju fanove.

Srecom pa se ne radi o remakeu nekog klasika kao sta je slucaj sa Magnumom
U seriji bi moglo bit jako puno sadrzaja.
Ja se samo nadam da nece imat jeftini CGi, kao sta je to bio slucaj sa Hobitom.

Casting ce bit kljucan faktor. Da nebi dobili neke sminkere u ovakvim ikonskim ulogama, kako to danas zna bit slucaj.

ja se nadam da će pametno pristupiti projektu iz dva razloga : prvo,LOTR ima kultni status i nije baš za zajebavat se s tim a drugo previše je love utučeno da bi tek tako napravili seriju ofrlje...

Izgleda da Andy Serkisov Gollum nece biti u LOTR seriji jer Serkis nema zelju se vracat u tu ulogu. Ukratko, smatra da je vrijeme za ic dalje.

Lord Of The Rings TV series might be shot in New Zealand

New Zealand could become home to Amazon's Lord of the Rings series, the streaming giant has revealed.

Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke told Deadline that, while planning was still in its early stages, it was possible that "one big series" would be filmed in New Zealand, where the director Peter Jackson made the original LOTR trilogy.

"I think we might be in New Zealand. I don't know, but we're going to have to go somewhere interesting that could provide those locations in a really authentic way, because we want it to look incredible," she said in the Q & A with Deadline.

"There's no shortage of ambition for the project. We'll go where we need to go to make it happen."

The Lord of The Rings TV show is set to be the most expensive series ever made, with costs expected to exceed US$1 billion (NZ$1.3b). Amazon purchased the rights from Tolkien's estate last year.

Ovo ce bit odlicno ako stvarno serija bude snimana na Novom Zelandu. Autenticne lokacije i priroda uvijek bolji od cistog rada u studiju.

Jos uvijek prodju trnci od cinjenice da ce ovo biti najskuplja serija ikad napravljena.

Malo uzbudljivih novosti - Peter Jackson Is Up For Getting Involved With The 'Lord of the Rings' TV Series

Gather around, my precious ones, as we've got some news that'll delight the Lord of the Rings fans out there - Amazon's TV adaptation of the movie franchise is taking shape and, more importantly, Peter Jackson said he will be chipping in.

This is exciting news, particularly since the director previously denied involvement with the series, stating: "There is nothing happening with me on this project... I'm not involved [with the] Lord of the Rings series, but I'm OK with it, I have plenty other projects that keep me busy."

One of those projects being Mortal Engines. But now that's out of the way, fans of the franchise can breathe a sigh of relief that Jackson will be sprinkling some of his magic on the small screen reboot of JRR Tolkien's tale.

In an exclusive with The Metro, the director said he's keen to help out with the show in any way he can.

"I don't have thoughts on it because I haven't seen [anything]," he said when asked on the Amazon takeover. "I think they're going to send us some scripts to see if we can help them along."

Meanwhile, OG screenwriter and producer, Philippa Boyens - who has been working on Mortal Engines with Jackson - expressed her thoughts on the show. "Fresh eyes on that story is such a good thing to do," she said. "So I'm excited to see what they come up with."

Ian McKellen Wants To Play Gandalf In The Lord Of The Rings TV Series

Sir Ian McKellen, who’s played Gandalf across six movies (both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies), has expressed interest in reprising the role for Amazon’s upcoming series. Speaking on Graham Norton’s BBC 2 Radio show, he was asked how he feels about there being another Gandalf in town, to which he replied: “What do you mean, another Gandalf?” While he was quick to clarify that he’s in no way attached to the TV show, he did say that he’s not too old yet to play the part.

“I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked,” the actor continued. “But are you suggesting that someone else is going to play it? Gandalf is over 7000 years old, so I’m not too old [yet].”

Could McKellen actually return to Middle-earth, though? Well, it’s still far too early to say, but like we mentioned above, Amazon’s show will actually be set before the events of the first novel in the trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Gandalf won’t be involved, just that we’re not sure if the character even has a role in the show yet.

Hopefully he does, though, as it’d be a lot of fun to see Sir Ian McKellen return to this world and give us another performance as the legendary wizard. Not to mention it’d go a long way to getting people on board with the series, as there’s definitely some ambivalence at the moment, with many feeling that the property doesn’t belong on the small screen.

That’s certainly a good point, as it’s hard to imagine a television budget doing justice to Tolkien’s world and characters, but until the project develops further, we’ll remain cautiously optimistic about Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV show and hope that McKellen somehow finds a way to appear in it
