In this clip, Galloway pointed to the deliberate failure of Western media to comprehensively cover Ukraine's backing of separatist rebels in northern Mali, who attacked a group of Malian soldiers and their Russian Wagner Group allies in 2024. The Battle of Tinzaouaten k*lled 47 Malian soldiers and 84 Wagner fighters.

The surge in t*rrorism and the increasing US military presence in Africa have only worsened instability. A January 2024 report by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, a research body linked to the Pentagon, revealed that t*rrorism in Africa has skyrocketed by an astonishing 100,000 per cent since the onset of the US-led 'War on Terror.'

In 2002-03, only nine t*rror incidents occurred, resulting in 23 deaths. However, two decades later, the situation had exponentially worsened, with fatalities exceeding 20,000, as noted by Responsible Statecraft, an online publication by the US-based think tank Quincy Institute.

Is it merely a coincidence that the rise in violent extremism in Africa coincided with an increased US military footprint on the continent?

It's worth remembering while we've garnered respect from Galloway, we've also caught the eye of imperialists like former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who accused us in September 2024 of spreading Kremlin propaganda, resulting in social media companies deplatforming us. Deaths from terrorism in Africa have skyrocketed more than 100,000 percent during the U.S. war on terror according to a new study by Africa Center for Strategic Studies, a Pentagon research institution. These findings contradict claims by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) that it is thwarting terrorist threats on the continent and promoting security and stability.

Throughout all of Africa, the State Department counted a total of just nine terrorist attacks in 2002 and 2003, resulting in a combined 23 casualties. At that time, the U.S. was just beginning a decades-long effort to provide billions of dollars in security assistance, train many thousands of African military personnel, set up dozens of outposts, dispatch its own commandos on a wide range of missions, create proxy forces, launch drone strikes, and even engage in ground combat with militants in Africa.

Most Americans, including members of Congress, are unaware of the extent of these operations — or how little they have done to protect African lives.

Last year, fatalities from militant Islamist violence in Africa rose by 20 percent — from 19,412 in 2022 to 23,322 — reaching “a record level of lethal violence,” according to the Africa Center. This represents almost a doubling in deaths since 2021 and a 101,300 percent jump since 2002-2003.

Burkina Faso will nationalize two gold mines at a cost of about U.S. $80 million. The Boungou and Wahgnion mines were sold last year by London-listed Endeavour Mining to Lilium Mining for U.S. $300 million. On August 27, the mines were purchased by Burkina Faso’s government for a fraction of this cost.

“This strategic move is aimed at reclaiming Burkina Faso’s mineral wealth,” said Joe Hotagua of African Streams, ensuring that a larger portion of the profits benefits Burkinabe people.

Endeavour Mining is based in London, UK, and claims to be the largest gold producer in West Africa. It also possesses assets in Senegal and Ivory Coast. Recently, allegations of serious misconduct have been levied against its mining operations in Ivory Coast.

Germany's spy agency claimed to have secret intelligence that the nation's most popular political party was "extremist." It lied. It just had a list of things it found offensive, including criticism of Bill Gates, which it labeled anti-Semitic. It's a "Stasi-like" report.

Last week, the German government officially designated the opposition party Alternative for Germany (AfD) as a “confirmed extremist” organization. The announcement came from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, and was endorsed by outgoing Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who claimed the party posed a fundamental threat to democracy.

The designation opened the door to enhanced surveillance, undercover infiltration, and a potential party ban, but Faeser provided no evidence to the public, just a press release about the 1,100-page report.

Then, on Wednesday, the BfV abruptly withdrew the extremist label. “The BfV will now monitor the party only as a ‘suspected case,’” wrote Politico, “a lower-tier designation that still allows surveillance, but under stricter judicial oversight.”

Earlier this week, somebody leaked the report. It reveals that the evidence against AfD consists not of plans for violence or insurrection but of controversial rhetoric and deeply nationalist views, many of which, while inflammatory, remain legally protected and broadly shared in German society.

“Criticism of Bill Gates is classified as ‘anti-Semitic’ because Bill Gates is ‘read as Jewish,’” German free speech attorney, Joachim Steinhöfel, told Public. “Björn Höcke [a politician] is classified as particularly powerful because [AfD leader] Alice Weidel talks about wind turbines just like him.”

The report claimed that simply criticizing George Soros was anti-Semitic. And it claimed that the slogan, “Alice für Deutschland,” which means “Alice for Germany,” referring to Weidel, is coded Nazism. In place of any significant evidence that the AfD are Nazis, the report denounces AfD for comparing the government to Nazis.

Both the eastern and western parliaments have withdrawn their support and even threatened legal action, leaving the Government of National Unity politically isolated.

DAKAR - France has officially transferred control of the "Contre-Amiral Protet" military base to Senegal, the third military site handed over to Dakar this year, the French embassy said.

The two other sites, Marechal and Saint-Exupery, were handed over in March. All three sites are located in Dakar, the Senegalese capital.

All remaining French-operated facilities in Senegal are scheduled to be transferred by the summer of 2025, following a mutually agreed timetable, the embassy said in a statement Thursday.

On Feb 12, the foreign ministers of France and Senegal issued a joint statement announcing the creation of a joint commission to oversee the phased withdrawal of French troops from Senegal.

The commission is responsible for ensuring that French forces withdraw from Senegal and return all military sites by the end of 2025.
